I will be the first to admit it, I still totally freak out when I see or hear a bee near me or my kids. I don’t know what that fear is driven from. Yes I have been stung before, yes it really hurt, but the bee world must be a lot scarier then my world with them around me.
Think about it, they work harder then any other creature I can think of. They are loyal to their queen (to a fault), and they help make this planet so beautiful and luscious!
So why are we so scared of them? Why do we pay hundreds of dollars to a pest control company to kill them? Why do we “farm” them? Huh, I honestly don’t know why.
Bees are naturally a very fascinating insect. We have all heard the stories that bees defy the laws of nature by being able to fly with such tiny wings & big bodies. We have heard that through their pollination we are able to enjoy plants, trees, flowers, etc. and we have all heard that Bees are vital to our survival.
The buzz on bees in my opinion is this. They are not out to hurt anyone. They are not viscous creatures that need to be exterminated. Yes they have a defense mechanism to protect themselves (which actually kills them) but every animal has a way to protect themselves and most other creatures’ defense does a lot more harmful damage to humans then bees do.
So thank you to all the bees out there that continue despite our best efforts to destroy them. Thank you to all the people out there that are fighting to protect these innocent bugs.
They have an energy too, they have loyalty, they have drive, they have versatility, they have spirits. And for that, I respect them!
